The 9:00am-10:20am classes you will have a choice between :
The Tiree Songbook: Join Mary Ann as she teaches you about songs from the 18th to the 21st centuries from the tiny inner Hebridean island that punches away above its weight for poets, singers and musicians. or
Songs from Argyll: Argyll is a beautiful area on the west coast, taking in both a mixture of mainland Scotland and 23 inhabited islands. It has a strong cultural heritage, long recognised as a Gaelic stronghold. In fact, you’ll hear it called Creathal na Gàidhlig or the ‘Cradle of Gaelic’, as Scottish Gaelic originated in Argyll; brought over in the 5th century by St Columba, and spread through the area as he made his pilgrimage northwards. Scottish Gaelic originated with us and we’re very proud of that fact! In this workshop Joy will teach a selection of songs from the area, from the list below:
Ma phòsas mi idir cha ghabh mi tè mhòr; Crònan Charsaig; Bheir mi sgrìob do Thobar Mhoire; Eilean Luinn; Puirt à beul Earraghàidhealach
