Welcome to our first annual Fall Fèis featuring two of Scotland’s finest Gaelic Singers in this half day event! The event will begin at 8:30am with a welcome message from our Fèis team. Time to wake up and have a cuppa together! Our first classes begin at 9:00am. Our next class begins at 10:30am.
The 10:30am - 12:00 classes you will have a choice between:
Slàinte Mhòr, Slàinte Mhath: Songs in praise and dispraise of deoch làidir or
Waulking Songs: Òrain luaidh, or waulking songs, were traditionally sung in Gaelic by women while 'fulling' or 'waulking' cloth. This was to finish a newly woven tweed: the fabric would first be soaked, and then ithumped rhythmically to shrink and soften it. Simple, beat-driven songs were used to accompany the work. This workshop will teach a selection of waulking songs from the list below:
