Join Slighe nan Gàidheal for our Fall Song Fèis 2026, a morning of Scottish Gaelic song, music, language, and tradition with Andrew McFayden.
Whether you are a Gaelic learner, singer, musician, or simply someone with an interest in Gaelic language and culture, this online fèis is an opportunity to learn songs, explore the traditions surrounding them, and enjoy some Gaelic music in good company.
Workshop Schedule
1. Òrain Obrach / Work Songs
9:00–10:20 AM Pacific Time
Explore the rich tradition of Gaelic work songs with Andrew. Learn about the songs, their cultural context, and the traditions that helped carry Gaelic language and music through generations.
Break: 10:20–10:30 AM
2. Òrain agus Puirt / Songs and Tunes
10:30 AM–12:00 PM Pacific Time
Continue the morning with Òrain agus Puirt — Songs and Tunes, exploring more of the Gaelic singing tradition and the music that accompanies it.
Online Cèilidh
12:15–2:00 PM Pacific Time — or longer!
Following the workshops, stick around for an informal online cèilidh. Bring a song, tune, story, poem, or simply come along to listen and enjoy the company.
The cèilidh is scheduled until 2:00 PM, but if everyone is enjoying themselves, we're happy to keep it going!
About Andrew McFayden
Andrew McFayden is a secondary school teacher living in Prince George, British Columbia, on the traditional lands of the Lheidli T'enneh Nation.
Andrew began learning Scottish Gaelic in 1996 and has been singing in the language since 2000. He spent ten summers in Cape Breton learning Gaelic at the Gaelic College and in Gaelic-speaking communities with elders and friends.
In 2006, Andrew completed his ethnographic master's thesis research on language revival efforts, with a particular focus on Gaelic in Cape Breton. As part of his research, he interviewed and transcribed Gaelic-speaking elders, contributing to the documentation and understanding of the language and its traditions.
Since 2004, Andrew has recorded and released four albums featuring 47 Gaelic songs, many of which have rarely been recorded by other singers. His most recent album, Turas, received critical acclaim.
Andrew continues to learn new Gaelic songs and to share his enthusiasm for the language, music, and traditions that surround them.

Cancellation Policy
Participant Cancellations
Cancellations must be submitted in writing (email is acceptable).
Cancellations made 14 days or more before the program start date will receive a full refund, minus a non-refundable deposit of $5.00.
Cancellations made 7–14 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations made less than 7 days before the start date are non-refundable.
If a participant is unable to attend due to illness or emergency, partial refunds or credits may be considered at the discretion of the organization.
